Ashanti Omowali Alston is a writer, speaker, father, and activist originally from New Jersey. He is a former member of the Black Panther Party and the Black Liberation Army. Alston is an inspiration and mentor to younger activists, helping to develop Black anarchist politics and support for political prisoners.
William C. Anderson is an activist from Birmingham, Alabama and is the author of The Nation on No Map and co-author of As Black as Resistance. He’s also the co-founder of offshoot journal and provides creative direction as a producer of the Black Autonomy Podcast.
JoNina Abron-Ervin is a journalist, grassroots community organizer, and former member of the Black Panther Party. She was the last editor of the Black Panther newspaper and the managing editor of The Black Scholar magazine. JoNina is a retired Western Michigan University associate professor of communication and cohosts the Black Autonomy Podcast.
Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin is an American writer, activist and black anarchist. He is a former member of SNCC, the Black Panther Party and Concerned Citizens for Justice. He was introduced to anarchism whilst in prison, inspiring him to write Anarchism and the Black Revolution in 1979. Released after 15 years, Ervin remains politically active.
Jessica Lynne is a writer, editor, and art critic. She is a founding editor of ARTS.BLACK, an online journal of art criticism from Black perspectives. Her writing has been featured in publications such as Artforum, Frieze, The Los Angeles Times, The Nation, and Oxford American.
Dale Rascoe is a veteran of the Black Power Movement and remains passionate about people of color and women’s rights. She’s also the author of the forthcoming manuscript Guerilla Girl: Memoir of a Woman in the Black Panther Party.
Tiana Reid is an assistant professor in the Department of English at York University. Her writing has appeared in Artforum, The Nation, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times, The Paris Review, and in many other publications. She lives in Toronto.
Mahdi Sabbagh is an architectural scholar and urbanist. He co-curates the Palestine Festival of Literature and serves as Editor at Large for the Avery Review. He is the editor of Their Borders, Our World (Haymarket Press, 2024) and was a 2023 Matakyev Research Fellow at the Center for Imagination in the Borderlands.
Kyera Singleton is the executive director of the Royall House and Slave Quarters. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in the Department of American Culture. She is a postdoctoral fellow for the Slavery, Colonialism, and their Legacies Project at Tufts University. She is also a board member for offshoot journal.
Eunsong Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Northeastern University. She is the author of gospel of regicide (Noemi Press 2017) and The Politics of Collecting: Race & the Aestheticization of Property (Duke University Press 2024), and co-translator of Kim Eon Hee’s Have You Been Feeling Blue These Days? (2019). She is also co-founder of offshoot journal.
Grayson Lee is a digital collage artist and community organizer based in the city of Toronto. He is a member of heung coalition and is also currently a Ph.D. Candidate in the Faculty of Information at the University of Toronto.
Carrie Nakamura is an editor, writer, and formerly an archaeologist. She has held positions at Stanford University, Leiden University and the Wereldmuseum (NL), and has published in various academic journals and monographs. She is co-editor of offshoot journal.
