Love Letter For Us

An evolving love letter to ourselves and anyone involved in this project:

we constructed this in order to dream and so this is not a real space and everything is possible. and with that being said: we do not deny that the stuff from the outside will seep into this space. when this happens, we will address them accordingly

the most important is each other: taking care of each is the most important work

after Nikki Giovanni: because we love each other most we will give each other most

the ideas are in the work. here, there is no separation between the idea and the work. there is no oversight, no management, we are equals and the labor process will be discussed, again and again

our objective is not productivity, efficiency, streamlining, or convenience but care

there will be dialogue and disagreement; and because we understand that avoidance of conflict is conflict, we will not suppress conflict (as much as possible)

when we want something done, we will do it (there is no one to order around, no one to push off work to, no one or nothing to manage)

we produce and make when and how we please

when someone else does the work, we will accept that it will look different from what we might’ve imagined. we will honor and live with their vision or, with permission, contribute to their work

we will learn how to do everything we want to do and must do because there is no one else

no one is paid—but when there is money, there will be complete financial transparency, with equity being the immediate goal

we have as much fun as possible. we ask ourselves in every meeting: is this fun? are we comfortable?

we tell each other when it’s no longer fun, when it’s too hard, and when we need a break

no one person—even the founder—is more important than the collective

a break down with each other is a break down of the project and everything will be halted and slowed down in order for us to repair our relationship and re-assess our objectives

we write and rewrite this as needed
